RAW FEST MCR 2013 – at Jackson’s Boat, Sale

“Creating a stage for Manchester’s RAW talent”

The mighty Mr Scruff will be headlining the second annual RAW FEST!

This unique one-day music festival, in association with famed live music venue Band on the Wall, supports the City’s finest up and coming talent both on stage and behind-the-scenes, and features live bands, DJs and performers across all genres. Mr Scruff will be taking time out from his touring schedule to support up and coming talent on his home turf and close the festival’s outdoor stage.

Set in the extensive grounds of Jackson’s Boat, a beautiful pub on the banks of the River Mersey between Chorlton and Sale, will be an outdoor stage and festival marquee, showcasing some of the region’s best RAW talent. Be one of the crowd to experience a day of original live bands, DJs, astonishing acts and magical surprises – and a barbeque!!

Rifle Road – Metrolink Road Diversion

As part of Metrolink’s new Airport Extension, Rifle Road has been diverted and the access to Jackson’s Boat has been altered. The diversion started yesterday and is set to last until August.

Rifle Road Metrolink Diversion

TfGM’s Contractors MPT, has been undertaking works within their construction site along Rifle Road. As part of these ongoing works, MPT will be undertaking a number of activites on Rifle Road itself, this will include:

A new culvert across the road to meet the brook.
A new roundabout
Highway improvement works

These works will be undertaken in a number of phases. The first phase will take place in the orange section of the attached plan. Following these works, MPT will progress the works to another section of Rifle Road. Temporary traffic lights and a vehicle diversion will be in place week commencing 1st April 2013 until approximately early August (as shown in the attached plan). In early August, prior to the completion of this phase, MPT are expecting to undertake tie in works to connect the newly constructed sections of road to the existing road. This wil take place during a 2 night closure, dates of which will be displayed on site. The road will remain open during the day.

Throughout the works we’ll be open every day as normal.

Jackson’s Boat Fun Dog Show 30th March 2013

It was an unseasonably cold day but we had one of our best turn outs yet for our fun dog show at Jackson’s Boat (Saturday 30th March 2013). With over 78 dogs entering classes throughout the day the judges and helpers were kept very busy. It was very cold but at least it remained dry and we managed to raise over £550 for the RSPCA which was a great result.

Dog Beer Now On Sale at Jackson’s Boat Pub in Manchester

To ensure our four legged friends do no get left out on a visit to the pub – we’ve now started selling beer especially for dogs at Jackson’s Boat. It’s a bottled beer imported from Belgium, alcohol free and packed with vitamin B. It’s available from the bar in either beef or chicken and beef flavours (?).

Chorlton Fiddlers at Jackson’s Boat on St Pats Night 2013. The Fiddlers play here every Monday Night.

The Irish session group AKA the Chorlton Fiddlers have found a new home on a Monday night here at Jackson’s Boat in Sale.

It’s a traditional Irish style live music session and there’s a cosy, friendly atmosphere by the fire. All are most welcome. Music starts at about 9 o’clock and carries on till close.

Why not come down and join in, or just sit back and watch with a pint of Guinness?

We did one a couple of years ago and it was a great success so book early!

Jackson’s Boat St Patrick’s Day Irish Night – Monday 18th March

Every Monday Evening from about 8:30 till close we have a traditional Irish session in the dog room by the fire. It’s live Irish folk music in a mellow type jam session. What better way to celebrate ‘St Pats Day’ – well the day after anyway. There’s a cosy, friendly atmosphere by the fire and of course plenty of Guinness on tap.
