Fun Dogshow Dates 2012

2011was the best year for our Fun Dog Shows yet. The three shows raised over £1111 for the RSPCA and hopefully were a lot of fun as well. We’re already looking forward to the shows for this Summer so here are the dates for your diary:

April 21st, 2012
June 9th, 2012
September 8th, 2012

Registration will start from 10:30 with the classes from about 11.

There’ll be the normal classes such as waggiest tail, treat catcher and Dog Olympics – more details will be available nearer the time. Last year’s shows have proved extremely popular – so we’re hoping to build on that success this year and raise lots of money for the RSPCA. Hopefully the weather will be good as well!

Sunset over the piling rig – Metrolink construction starts

Metrolink construction has started on the airport extension adjacent to the pub. Piling is in progress which will provide a base for the bridge over the Mersey and the ramp that will lead up to the bridge. As part of the works the south footpath of the Mersey has been closed and a diversion set up over the footbridge and along the northern bank.

Flixton Brass Band – Sunday Afternoon 4th December 2011

On Sunday afternoon, 4th December 2011 Flixton Brass band will be appearing at Jackson’s Boat. They’ve played for the last 5 years at this time and it’s always very Christmasy with the decorations up and the fire roaring.

It’s always very popular – so arrive early yo be sure of a seat!

After the very sucsefull show at Easter and in June our final fun dog show of the season will be Saturday 22nd October.

SMART Festival – Friday 12th August 2011

Following the sucess of Jacksonbury last year we held another music festival in August – on Friday 12th.

The event was jointly organised by SMART, Sale Moor Community Partnership, Jackson’s Boat, Rocket Jam, and THT’s Sale Community Panel. There was something for everyone with music for all tastes.

The charities who will benefit from the proceeds are Cancer UK, Wythenshaw Hospital cancer unit and Sale Animal Sanctuary.

Rocket Jam – Sunday 26th June 2011

On Sunday 26th June 2011 we held Rocket Jam Showcase – an all acoustic music event hosted by Rocket Jam’s Phill Platt and friends featuring some of the best acoustic acts from around Manchester.

On Saturday 11th June 2011 Jackson’s Boat was proud to present Flixton Brass Band in a family friendly, flag waving evening concert of patriotic favourites.

Unfortunately the Great British weather wasn’t kind so we had to move the event from the outdoor stage to the cover of the marquee – but the rain didn’t manage to damped the spirits. The band we on top form as usual so the event was a great sucess and we hope to do something similar next year.

Fun Dog Show 23rd April 2011 – Pictures

The first fun dog show of the year was Easter Saturday 23rd April 2011. It was our most sucessfull yet with over 90 dogs taking part and over £550 raised for the RSPCA. I will post the results in the next few weeks.

There will be another one on Saturday 18th June and then the final one of the season will be Saturday 10th September.
