In the 1980′s the pub was short-listed in a contest run by Teachers Whiskey to find the most “interesting and authentic haunted pubs”. The pub appeared in the book “Haunted Pubs in Britain & Ireland” by Marc Alexander (Sphere 1984) where the licensee Tom Gray spoke of George a ghost who could be seen wearing full highland dress. This might not be as odd as it seems as the pub was reputedly the meeting place for Jacobites in the 1700s.

It’s not hard too see why many people believe that Jackson’s Boat is Haunted - possibly the most haunted pub in Manchester. It’s ancient buildings and remote location next to the River Mersey, surrounded by woodland can be very eeire on a dark October night.
